CBC.ca | The Current | Death Penalty Debate | Death Penalty Debate. Although this link says it’s the death penalty debate, it’s actually an interview with Vandana Shiva, an environmental activist who I’ve just listened to talking about the thousands of suicides by Indian farmers. I remember hearing about this some time ago and I’m glad she’s brought up this terrible issue again. Farmers have little choice as to what cotton seeds they can grow – and the GM ones fail to live up to their miracle claims. She also mentioned cheap jeans production.
How many of us know where our jeans are made, never mind where the cotton was grown and who grew it? Where do you find organic, fairtrade ones?
